In this issue, ten artists respond to the theme “Small is Beautiful” and do so in wonderfully diverse ways.

From Lesly Deschler Canossi’s examination of the microscopic, to Virginia Warwick’s homage to small and often over-looked lives, to Ding Ren’s performance of “small actions”, these artists bring light to the importance and the power of the small. In the spirit of EF Schumacher, we focus on local artists and independent creators of culture living here in our own community.

“Small is Beautiful” is also a tribute to Locus’ own small and humble beginnings with the very first issue of Locus Magazine. We hope to build a strong base from here as an open forum for creativity.

Issue one features artwork by Nathan Duncan, Lesly Deschler Canossi, Coco Martin, Chris Peregoy, Ding Ren, Andrew Strasser, Arthur Soontornsaratool & Emily Hunter, Allison Turrell, and Virginia Warwick, interviews with The Whole Gallery, Chris Peregoy, and Virginia Warwick, and writing by AAH.

Issue 01 is printed 5.5″ x 5.5″, perfect bound in a hand-numbered edition of 300. Sixty-four full color pages with ZERO advertising.
